FINANCIAL TIMES AS CULTURAL CRITIQUES
Due to me pension pains and me claims in cases of social justice I feel a strange kind of pleasure in reading the Financial Times. Erotic. The latest little piece I give you here - or at least little bit to chew :-

" ... the battle over evolution is a class conflict disguised as a religious or moral conflict. It is comforting to look at the fight over evolution as one that pits the educated against the ignorant...."

  1. I didn't realise the FT employed demented Marxists [not that there are any other sort].

  2. Now now Anticant. Calm down and behave yourself.
Today the FT ran this good story, yes. But hardly from a "demented Marxist" position.
A MARXIAN position is, in fact, quite normal and has been for many generations ( its the economy stupid for but one pathetic example).

Indeed Anticant many of your own anticantian bursts ( we love em) are rather Marxian but you are never to be labelled as a demented Marxist.

  3. I'm not as demented anything. Sometimes, though, I feel as if I'm the only sane person left in the human lunatic asylum. See, for instance, this morning's "Telegraph":

  4. If that link is too long, it's the leading item on the Telegraph website:

"Children aged eight enlisted as council snoopers"

Why did they bother to disband the Stasi?

  5. When there is a flicker of class consciousness ( the law of the land is in favour of the ruling class and all that) then younf folk do not snoop or snitch or tell-tales.

It is all a matter of knowing the name of the big game.

  6. I wish it was as simple as that. Thank your lucky stars you don't live in dear old Blighty any more.

  7. Surprisingly, or not, NannyKnowsBest also has a take on that story.

Worst point is that the young snoopers can receive a bounty for doing the dirty deed - and I do not mean a chocolate bar.

  8. The main issue for me has always been to snoop and snitch on those that really infect.
Even then do it in public for all to see.
But I am a simple rustic.
But that is the way to do it.
