CAN THE ELITE EVER SHOW THE WAY AHEAD FOR MOST FOLK?
Eton College and St Pauls are making whispers and causing sound-waves around the elite gallery of the Character Building institutions of the UK. It seems to be another kind of revolt. Bring back education and the "whole person and world" idea and bring back edification?
Damn all those faked exams and tables and Americanised credits.
Let me say my little piece.
My answer is YES, for sometimes and awhile.
Elite systems have much to contribute here.
THE NEED IS TO DEMOCRATISE that elitism system.
Without being scared of the workers and the misfits and the .........
Ah well it is almost May Day.

You are an Oxymoron incapable of improving upon your existing IQ of 62 or 68 at the best.
You fail the oxy test.
At least I am a moron.
We don't need no education here.
Eastern Europe can provide the skilled workers.
We need a residual of common labour that can't think plus a pool of spare body parts.
When people go on about '1984 I think the emphasis should be on 'Brave New World' as the one which is closer and more imminent.
Democratised elitism equals meritocracy, is that right? Yet, that, too, has its own evils and costs. For instance, the aristocratic sense of noblesse oblige disappears, replaced by: "I'm on top of the pile, you're not, because I and my talents deserve it."
ah damit : thrown all over the place agin.
But I am an aristocrat of my own making and breaking.
Shame I am skint as skint can be just like a NOBLE Savage ought to be.
"But I am an aristocrat of my own making and breaking."
Impossible. You need recognition of your superiority - relative to Others - from an Other.
But nuff respec going out your way, anyway. I big you up.
(Why do I sound like Janet Street Porter talking to yoof?)
Zola, you are the creme de la creme of bloggers! Let's celebrate excellence. As Gilbert said, "when everyone is somebody, then no-one's anybody".
Well said, Grumpy One.
May Day Pole Dancing for the Poles..
May Day?
Jesus wept.
Dionysus died
and
........
Not sure I can recall historical stuff so well.
But would sure like to see ole grumpy aunt(s) and merkiboy(s) live on stage.
Hamburg was hot and even Berlin played a fair fiddle or two.
Shame about the Asian riot police but there you go....
And there was me just dancing around a pole until I dropped down respectable-like.
Just you wait until the Mid-summer.
I am live on stage tomorrow night!
Just old rocky standards, but it should be fun though.
Maybe even find a groupie.
Barnacle Bill is finished leave now.
