IMAGES OF AN ANTICANT

The not so old TV classic - "Last of the (Mid?)Summer Wine" - springs to mind when we all enjoy the frolics of Yorkshire folk at their best.
The interesting thing is to identify the TV characters with our Anticant and the beadle and ben in the background.
Maybe we need a TV programme based on the adventures of Anticant.

Too many skeletons in the cupboard - it would probably be more like the Midsomer Murders.

Do you remember "It ain't no sin to take off your skin and dance around in your bones"? And who was the singer?

I'm sure William Burroughs did a version of that (""It ain't no sin..") with Tom Waits on the latter's "The Black Rider".

Hope Anticant isn't offended by this but I'm picturing Bill Hartnell as Dr. Who...

You're quite right, trousers, it is on 'The Black Rider':

"When you hear sweet syncopation
And the music softly moans
T'ain't no sin to take off your skin
And dance around in your bones

"When it gets too hot for comfot
And you can't get an ice cream cone
T'ain't no sin to take off your skin
And dance around your bones

"Just like those bamboo babies
Down in the South Sea tropic zone
T'ain't no sin to take off your skin
And dance around your bones"

I doubt if Mr & Mrs Zola will be doing this in Lapland tonight, though!

Must get hold of that album. Old Bill's vocals are an eerie delight.

For what it is worth : Giving a rather formal lecture one day to a conference I risked it.
gave a song i did.
Aimed it at a few special members of the seated audience.
Song from Waits "Time".

Later a well known and yet friendly professor caught me in a corner and told me he had got the point. The lines :-
" And they all pretend they're orphans and their memory's like a train
You can see it getting smaller as it pulls away
And all the things you can't remember tell the things you can't forget
That history puts a saint in every dream "

Strangely enough I have once sung that exact Burroughs/Waits song in my strange days as a lead singer.

Good choice Zola.

My bass playing is incredible (as distinct from saying "I'm a good bass player").
