WHAT THE FUCK DID 9/11 HAVE TO DO WITH IT?

I am fed up and tired with newspapers and politicians struggling to justify shit through that so called 9/11 thing. Enough is enough. The USA has been the main terror for so many countries and folk since that bomb dropping in 1945. The USA has raped and pillaged and covertly abused so many different countries that one can only ask the question : why did it take so long for others to retaliate? The UK? Just how many today can justify a Great Britain role in world affairs?
That the larger world is slowly waking up is no shock.
The USA-UK axis is now scratched and the skin broken as the beast emerges from within. The sooner this USA-UK axis realises this the better for most USA and UK folk.

American smug self-satisfaction, self-praise, and lack of self-criticism is nothing new. It's been around ever since the Revolution and was much in evidence before WW2, let alone 9/11. See Geoffrey Gorer:"The Americans" [1948]. Those few Americans who speak out against this deluded self-complacency are routinely denounced as "unpatriotic" - the worst of sins. As for the USA-UK "axis", in reality there is no "special relationship", and never has been.

Nice to see the subject running in between here, the Swagman's and AntiBurqa's..
Point is that the Hermann Goering quote could be the template for action by the PNAC.
I have no doubt that, in some way or other, 9/11 was an inside job.
The amount of evidence is simply overwhelming.
However, I think America has over-reached, in this case, and we are seeing the beginning of the end of American world domination.
It may be that they have to go into Iran because they can't turn back now, but, one way or the other, it will be finished a lot sooner than many realise.

Awright, big man, sent you an epic on your email - not spam at all.
Here, the weather is so terrible I can't even go for my daily constitutional (pint that is).
Earlier, I did go out and felt myself to be something like 'The Priest' in 'The Omen'.
I was dashing about from side to side in the street waiting for a 'pointy thing from the sky' to end the torment.
No such luck.
Then I realised.
Tomorrow will be The Celts against The Jam Tarts and, with Pressley on the pitch, my fear of untimely demise will be as nothing.

Well Anticant : That arrogant smuggness of the USA seems to be fairly well agreed now. There is even a thin sense of guilt with many US citizens today. But too late.

That USA-UK axis ( of evil) may not be the same as a "special relationship" agreed but Iraq saw just such an axis and that axis is undeniable.

zola a social thing said...

Merkin : I agree and Russia and Chia agree to it seems. Latin America and iran agrees. The plot thickens day by day.
Shame about the German led EU though.

Boldscot : Blame it on the Scottish Socialists!
Look forward to the futter stuff.

Must we who make up this 'arc of moderation', moderate our moderation; showing more moderation with our moderation than we have shown so far? Or will that all be too moderate? Once the extreme deciders leave office, how will we moderate for more moderate moderation from moderate moderates?

Anonymous said...

Just wondering.

zola a social thing said...

Indeed Butwhatif : For me I can only try to protest in ways that ring true and yet do not fall into the same trap as killing is the answer to killing.
But i refuse to be moderate or moderated.
At the same time i must stay with some kinds of moral responsibility, that inalienable responsibility, for "the other".
But maybe you hit upon the big issue and story of a postmodern world today.
But what if we are feeling divided the adventure remains does it not?

Anonymous said...

I place my hope in the most powerfully moderating force that we have in the world: 'self-interest', properly understood.

When 'ego' and 'alter' meet in a potentially violent stand-off, but realise it's all going to end in wasted blood, treasure and tears, then they've found the basis for minimal co-existence. Not understanding, not deep mutual respect, not love, not compassion, not empathy. Just co-existence. Grounded upon a fear of the conequences of anything else. That's good enough for me.

And on that note, that's why I think the 'realpolitik' arguments against invading Iraq, against all the excesses to date in this War of Terror, have also been the most - practically - moral ones.

Call me out-dated, Zola. Yet for me, therein lies the virtue of a form of normative utilitarianism: anticipate the pain of taking other courses, of swimming in the ocean of blood; maximize your well-being in this world; leave 'authenticity' and 'adventure' for another time and place.

For one man's struggle for authenticity and adventure, is another man's subjection and humiliation. Dubya, together with the neocons, could never appreciate that.

When friendship is hard, but enmity is all so easy, hooray for indifference (or should that be indifferance, Zola?)

zola a social thing said...

Jesus Christus me old : That is some Sunday meal. liked it I did. Agree with much I did and do do.
Indifference based upon utilitarian norms attached to self-interest is usually, i agree, less warlike than many other positions.

What worries me is the infamous "Prisoners Dilemma" which shows us that your position, taken in full, is impossible.
Perhaps this demands another thread. Not sure.
Anyway unless you can show a way out from the "Prisoners Dilemma" then I must stick with existential adventures of the moral kind that are attached to that responsibility with and for the other.

Nobody does anything unless they believe it is in their own best interest. Trouble is, personal or species survival is not regarded as the most exalted goal by those who fondly imagine that 72 virgins await them in paradise. "Live and let live" is not on their agenda.

Anonymous said...

Cummon Anti, 'deferred gratification' is also the exhortation of the Christian Churches.
And what is on offer is a whole lot better than 72 virgins (been there, done it got the video and the T-shirt).
Ambrosia Creamed Rice for eternity.

But, boldscot, when does negative marginal utility kick in, with all that shagging? That's what I want to know. When does heaven become hell? Just like a couple of weeks ago, when, watching Lizzie Windsor, I took that additional bit of chocolate I really knew beforehand I should have passed on.

Anonymous said...

The point you are making is that we canmake our own Heaven and Hell.
(The Boldscot has sent you an email which illustrates the point).
Enjoy.
There is no negative marginal utility with Ambrosia because I simply can't specify if/when my want will be satisfied.
With the other stuff, I am definitely fighting a losing battle after all these years on the prowl.

zola a social thing said...

Strange that the term "belief" crops up here with self-interest etc.
Where is the reality I wonder?

Why is that so many act against their own real interests?

anticant said...

"Live and let live" is rapidly vanishing off the agenda of the Christian churches as well, in case you hadn't noticed. Roll up for the Rapture and all that......

zola a social thing said...

I agree Anticant : Remember I am NOT a member of any Church or religion.
I quit all that at 14 years of age just before confirmation.

I began again by looking hard at the final pages of Don Quixote and I do not joke here.

zola a social thing said...

BoldScot : Can we make our own heaven and hell? Your question will rattle many cages mine included.
A response : YES, we can. BUT we can and do not make our heaven and hell only in the ways of our own choosing.

Phew : I live again

Anonymous said...

I agree with you totally, Zo-Zo, and my comment was only a bit of self-pity relating to BWI saying that there was a choice about biting the chocolate.
Even the most extreme form of Calvinism allows for 'free will' in the following way :
You have a choice of two doors to go through. A free choice.
Go through the 'chosen' door and written on the back of that door is :
'That door was chosen for you before the beginning of time'.

Choose freely, choose wisely and if it is out of your control don't blame yourself.
I think I may have mentioned before, an accident I had - where I 'fell' into a whirlpool and had to get CPR to revive me.
Was I lucky or unlucky, dumb or dumber? Still don't know, years later.

zola a social thing said...

It was that "risk" I guess between the whirlpool and the rocks.
Navigation?
Were you ever with me with those "dogs" or the C-Vrekin?
Interested I am.

'The closer you are to death. The more you realize you are alive.'
Thankfully, I was never aquainted with the nether reaches of 'Brecan's Cauldron'.
Many moons ago I worked between Mull and Iona and love those waters - Staffa could easily inspire a Fingal's Cave in almost anyone.
No, my come-uppance occurred in South America whitewater rafting down a rapid called 'The Devil's Throat'.

zola a social thing said...

Now I feel and understand a little.
Staffa and the 18th century grafiti on the walls inside the cave after surfing in through those waves.
Then wanting water where no water was?
Scottish canoeists knew it well.
Shit I must get a new thread here.

have you ever visited Lofoten? Sorry for the silly question but it is not often that communication is made this way.

Anonymous said...

Lofoten, no. My only Norwegian atrocity was catalogued on Ducky's site a coupla months ago.
I am only aquainted with the beauty of those parts through the constant re-runs on UKTVHistory channel of 'World at War' - I wouldn't really consider myself an outdoor person.
Having said that, anyway, the Lofoten Maelstrom is as nothing compared to the one inside here.
Certainly, I am sure paths have crossed at some point. I had a couple of summers working in Shetland - and playing a few games, with Jim Leask, for Shetland Rangers and Shetland Hibs.
Or maybe, it is simply a Hermann Hesse type of synchronicity (he was an early hero).

'Here's another strange fact that's "out there"...did you know that one of the planes that struck the WTC just happened to hit the floor occupied by an insurance company that just happened to be owned by Paul Bremer. Ok Zo-Zo, will get back with something definitive. However, have a look to whet your chops.
The guy is as dodgy as Negroponte.
Possibly, I would have done the same if I had been presented with such a gift (hopefully not, though).
However, looks like he was 'well intae it' well before the debacle.

The American Conservative Magazine
http://geobay.com/542ccf
In yesterday's Guardian it was noted that 'the New York money men are pushing for war on Iran ASAP'.
More 'money for nothing' about to happen.
Follow the money? - even the GAO in the States hasn't been able to account for the missing $8 billion.
If you offered me the bulk of that $8 billion, I would be prepared to put a transponder into my office to 'aid targeting'.
